From where I am sitting....

Every night when our family sits down at the table to eat- I sit and embrace how blessed I am! I am surrounded by these beautiful little girls and they are each so sweet and individual. During the month of February we are going to go around the table telling the person beside us something that we love about them. This will hopefully help the girls learn to love each others differences! I think we all should make an effort to do this. Take 1/2 of a minute in the busy day- to randomly be nice to someone. Tell someone something they may not hear very often- a compliment, a thank you, a pep talk- who knows you may make someones day! This is not only a really good way to show God's love, it is also a really good way for us to feel God's love! Yes you might think this is kind of cheesy- but once you give it a try-- you just can't help feeling good!

Today has been awesome. We have been at home relaxing- with no place we had to go or nothing we had to do! This was so rare.
We have been fasting all meat for 2 weeks now. We are starting to run out of non-meat ideas! Any ideas? Kaysen has had a really huge week! She has been sitting up, making new sounds, expressions, and movements. She is a different baby since even last week. I believe that God has truly answered our prayers.

Sweet Sisters

Wonderful Wednesday

Last Christmas my husband (Joe) and I had a discussion about how things change as we get older. Of course this ended in talking about how things are just never the same when you lose a loved one or experience another life altering change.

A couple of years after we were married, my husband's mother (affectionally known as "Sweet Girl") passed away after a hard fight against lymphoma. She was the heart of the family- she inspired so many traditions that we still celebrate today as if she were here. Joe said that his mom made the best biscuits in the world, and how he missed them. I have to say that there is no biscuit like my mama's "cat heads", but these biscuits were delicious as well. My sister in law inherited their mother's love of cooking and she makes biscuits just like Sweet Girl did. These thoughts stayed on our minds as the holiday progressed.

At a family gathering Joe shared with his siblings how he missed their mom's biscuits. The day after Christmas 2010, Joe's sister came to our house for a biscuit lesson. She and Joe took over the kitchen and she taught him all about making biscuits. They each made a pan, with 2 of our 4 little girls on step stools watching their every move. We enjoyed those biscuits that morning, and Pookie (Joe) has been making them ever since. It has been so sweet to watch his biscuits become as much a tradition to our family as Sweet Girl's biscuits were to him. I am so proud for my daughters to see that their daddy is such a part of our kitchen, and I tell them often that there aren't many men that make home made biscuits!

Memorable Monday

Today has been a good day! There is nothing like that minute when all of the crazy chaos turns to  beautiful harmony filled moments shared between sisters. There has been so much going on this evening with homework , dinner, tattle tailing, and getting ready for Tuesday that my head has been in a spin. After everything kinda calmed down a bit- I sat down to enjoy my oldest 3 baby girls dancing with each other. There is no other way to describe it but JOY. All those smiles and laughs- it made my night!!

Kitty's sweet piano teacher talked with me today about having her participate in the GMEA Music festival. I think Kitty would enjoy it but at the same time I wonder if  first grade is too early for something like this. I know that it could be a great experience for her but could it turn into a bad experience and turn her against piano?!? I would really appreciate any comments or advice on this!

Yummy Sticky Buns

Happy New Year!

Has everyone been busy eating black eyed peas and making New Years resolutions? I am not really making resolutions this year. I would like to say that I resolve to blog everyday---- but we all know that will not happen! I am simply going to try to blog at least once a week! Whether I post a picture, a recipe, or a funny story-- Ill try to do something!

I will start with a recipe I have been making at home. Everyone loves it..... except Kitty :(!
I found this on Pinterest and it is DEEEElicious.

Start out with a bunt pan. Add syrup and a mixture of cinnamon/ sugar in the bottom of the pan. Coat the bottom of the pan. Add Grands canned biscuits overlapping each other around the pan. Cover with more syrup and cinnamon/sugar mixture. Then sprinkle with chopped pecans. Bake according to the instructions on the canned biscuits.
